Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
In Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 9, Lum, Ataru, Shinobu, and Inaba are still exploring strange places called hyperspace. Lum and Ataru are especially curious to find a future they’ll love. They go through a magical door and end up in a weird future.
In this future, Lum is running away from a version of Ataru who’s acting like a boss. This future Ataru gets defeated by someone else, changing what happens next. Back in hyperspace, Lum and Ataru argue because they’re not finding the future they want.
Inaba takes them to a place called the Factory of Fate. He shows them a special doorknob-making machine. These doorknobs can help them find their ideal futures. But Inaba’s friends don’t want them to use it. They try to stop them, but Inaba helps his friends escape.
Later, Lum tries to use her doorknob, but it gets broken by one of Inaba’s friends. Ataru sneaks away and uses his doorknob. He finds himself in a future where he has lots of girlfriends but Lum is not there. He realizes Lum is missing and feels bad about it.
So, he leaves that future and goes back to hyperspace. Meanwhile, Shinobu saves Inaba from danger. She decides to join him and enter a door with her ideal future. Inaba’s friends see Lum and Ataru causing trouble and try to stop them.
But Inaba helps Lum, Ataru, and Shinobu escape through another door. Later, Inaba’s friends trick Lum and Ataru into a big door. They say it’s their true future. But it’s a trap! Lum and Ataru fall into a pile of doors. Ataru sees a future where he and Lum are happily married.
Lum is happy that Ataru cares about her happiness. Shinobu also finds a door with her ideal future. Inaba takes her doorknob off the door. Inaba decides to stay behind in hyperspace. Shinobu feels sad but hopes to see him again someday.
The next day, they have tea together, and Shinobu feels happy knowing they can still be friends. There’s also a funny story about Onsen-Mark, who visits Shinobu’s house but ends up being kicked out.
