We see in the previous episode that the antics and adventures of our favorite characters continue to surprise us. Now, stepping into the next chapter, we find Ran busy making cupcakes with a plan to give them to someone she cares about.

While she’s on her way through town, Ataru can’t resist playing a trick on her, which leads to him tasting one of the fallen cupcakes. This isn’t just any cupcake, though, as it knocks him out cold.

Lum, finding Ataru out like a light and spotting a cupcake wrapper, realizes something’s up and takes him home. There, they get a not-so-reassuring comment from their robot doctor about being ready for the worst.

Not giving up, Lum uses a portal to go to Ran’s place, keeping an eye on Ataru’s health with a special gadget. Her journey shows her the weird effects of Ran’s baking, and just when things seem their bleakest, she loses her link to Ataru because of Cherry’s clumsy mistake.

All the while, Ran’s having a nice time with Rei, clueless about the mess her cupcakes have started. Lum finds her, sharing the bad news through tears.

It takes some convincing, but Ran, Rei, and Lum hurry back to see Ataru, who, much to their shock, is just fine annoyed but fine. Ran is upset her special cupcakes were wasted on Ataru, not reaching their intended recipient. In this episode of Urusei Yatsura, season 2 starts with Ran making cupcakes to give to someone special. While she’s walking, Ataru tries to scare her but ends up eating one of her cupcakes. This cupcake makes him pass out.

Lum finds Ataru and is very worried. She sees the cupcake wrapper and knows Ran made them. Lum takes Ataru home, where a robot doctor makes a joke about having Ataru’s funeral ready, which doesn’t help Lum at all.

Lum decides she needs to find Ran to get a cure for Ataru. She uses a special device to watch over Ataru’s health and goes through a portal to find Ran.

Along the way, Lum sees other creatures knocked out by the cupcakes and feels sad, thinking something terrible has happened to Ataru, especially when she loses connection to the health monitor.

Meanwhile, Ran is having a nice day with Rei, not knowing about the trouble her cupcakes have caused. When Lum finds Ran and tells her Ataru is dead, Ran doesn’t believe her at first.

But she agrees to go check on him. When they arrive, Ataru is okay and just yells at them for coming in so suddenly. Ran is upset her cupcakes were wasted on Ataru instead of Rei, her intended recipient.

Next, the episode tells a story about a fox trying to win a woman’s love with a magical meal that turns her into a fox for a night. They have a great time, but the magic only lasts for one night, and she turns back into a human.

The story shifts to Shinobu’s fox friend who is being chased by dogs until he’s saved by another character, Kotatsu. The fox then tries to visit Shinobu, leading to more confusion and everyone accidentally turning into foxes because of a magical mix-up.

The last part of the episode is about Onsen-Mark, who has been taken by Lum’s parents. They treat him well, and Onsen-Mark opens up about his troubles during a night of drinking with Lum’s father.

The next day, the rest of the group wonders where Onsen-Mark is. Despite Onsen-Mark’s insistence on leaving to teach his class, Lum’s father is too drunk to care, and the episode ends with a promise that this is the last of Onsen-Mark’s sad stories.
