Victoria Beckham’s presentation during Paris Fashion Week encountered a disruption when animal rights activists joined her models on the catwalk. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals group (Peta) characterized it as a protest against the fashion industry’s reliance on animal skins.

Activists sported T-shirts emblazoned with “Animals aren’t fabric” and brandished signs proclaiming “Viva vegan leather.”

Victoria Beckham concluded the show despite a foot injury, appearing on crutches during the finale.

She sported a black protective boot on her left foot, harmonizing with her all-black ensemble. Despite limited mobility, she gracefully traversed past fashion aficionados and critics in the front row, among them former Brazilian international footballer Ronaldo, once a teammate of Victoria’s husband, David.

In a fleeting moment, she paused to blow a kiss to someone in the crowd, silently conveying her gratitude.

Although Beckham’s fashion brand abstains from using fur or exotic skins, Peta highlights the presence of leather in some designs. Mimi Bekhechi, Peta’s European president, emphasized,

“No garment or accessory warrants the violent slaughter and skinning of sensitive and intelligent animals.”

“We are urging Victoria Beckham to turn instead to the ethical and eco-friendly innovations available today, such as high-end leather made from apples, grapes, pineapples, mushrooms, and more.”

Peta activists, renowned for their disruptive protests, frequently make their presence felt at major fashion events worldwide, including recent demonstrations in New York, London, and Milan during the ongoing fashion season.

The Paris show revealed the autumn/winter 2024 collection of the Spice Girls singer.

David Beckham revealed on Instagram last month that Victoria sustained a foot injury in a “little accident in the gym.”
