Wade Wilson, infamously dubbed the “Deadpool Killer,” has faced multiple criminal charges beyond the double murder that initially brought him to public attention. Recently, the 30-year-old returned to a Florida court on August 29, where he pleaded no contest to charges of drug smuggling in jail.

These charges arose while he was awaiting sentencing for the 2019 first-degree murders of Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43. Wilson had already been sentenced to death for these killings just days earlier on August 27.

In the recent court proceedings, Wilson accepted a plea deal regarding 2023 felony charges, including attempted trafficking of amphetamines or methamphetamines and conspiracy to traffic the same substances. The court sentenced him to 12 years in prison for each count, along with a $50,000 fine.

These sentences are to be served concurrently with his death penalty sentences. Additionally, charges related to an alleged prison escape attempt in 2010 were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

The same judge who handed down Wilson’s death sentence presided over the drug trafficking case. Wilson had previously confessed to the brutal murders of Melton and Ruiz, both of whom were killed on October 7, 2019.

After having consensual sex with Melton, Wilson murdered her, stole her car, and then randomly targeted Ruiz. He strangled Ruiz after asking her for directions and ran her over repeatedly with the stolen vehicle.

The judge emphasized the particularly heinous nature of these crimes in his sentencing order. He described the murders as “heinous, atrocious, and cruel,” noting that the murder of Ruiz was “cold, calculated, and premeditated.” The judge also considered Wilson’s previous criminal record, including the fact that he was on probation at the time of the murders, which further justified the death penalty.

Wilson’s attorney has indicated plans to appeal the death sentence. Although E! News reached out to his lawyer for comments on the recent drug charges and the earlier escape attempt, they have yet to receive a response. The case highlights Wilson’s continued criminal behavior even after his arrest for the double murders, underscoring the severity of his actions and the resulting legal consequences.
