The Golden State Warriors have faced their fair share of challenges in the 2023-24 NBA season, currently holding onto the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference as they eye a spot in the play-in tournament.

Their recent matchup against the Magic proved to be a pivotal moment, especially when Draymond Green was ejected less than four minutes into the game following a heated exchange with officials.

Green’s early exit hit Warriors’ star Stephen Curry hard. The visibly upset Curry pulled his jersey over his face, his emotions raw as he prepared to carry the team without Green.

Curry’s distress was evident as he walked to the Warriors’ bench, shaking his head while teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis offered consolation.

Was Stephen Curry crying?

Then came the moment that captured attention: Curry, with his jersey over his head, rubbed his eyes through the fabric. Emerging red-faced, it left many speculating if tears were shed.

In a postgame interview, Curry revealed the depth of his emotions, “We know how important this part of the season is for our ability to get into a rhythm and secure a play-in opportunity… You don’t wanna have self-inflicted wounds when it comes to that.”

When asked about Green’s ejection, Curry emphasized the team’s need for him, stating, “All I’ll say is we need him. He knows that. We all know that.”

Green’s ejection came after disputing a foul called on Andrew Wiggins, picking up consecutive technical fouls in the process.

Though not directly involved in the play, Green’s animated discussion with officials escalated, resulting in his removal from the game. Crew chief Mitchell Ervin explained that Green’s use of profane language towards an official led to the ejection.

Reflecting on the incident, Green acknowledged his fault during his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” stating, “I deserved the ejection at that point.”

The Warriors’ emotional rollercoaster showcased the highs and lows of the game, with Curry’s tears and Green’s ejection ultimately propelling the team to a 101-93 victory over the Magic.
