The Washington Commanders are taking an unconventional approach in their evaluation of top quarterback prospects, hosting meetings with Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy simultaneously.

This innovative strategy, spearheaded by new general manager Adam Peters, draws inspiration from Peters’ tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, where large prospect visits were a common practice to assess player interactions.

With the Chicago Bears poised to select Caleb Williams as the top pick, Washington is eyeing Daniels, Maye, or McCarthy with the second pick. While opinions vary among experts, Daniels, known for his exceptional performance at LSU, appears to be the frontrunner for the Commanders.

Whoever Washington selects will join a revamped offense that has undergone significant changes this offseason. Notable additions include former Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, quarterback Marcus Mariota, and linemen Nick Allegretti and Tyler Biadasz.

Despite quarterback uncertainties in recent seasons, wide receiver Terry McLaurin has emerged as one of the league’s premier wideouts. His presence adds stability to the Commanders’ offense, which is further bolstered by the influx of talent and coaching expertise.

Under new head coach Dan Quinn, the Commanders’ defense is poised for improvement, drawing from Quinn’s success with the Dallas Cowboys’ highly-ranked defense. With a strengthened offense and defensive upgrades, the Commanders aim to position their new quarterback for success in the upcoming season.
