Plot Of The Movie
About two-thirds of the way into the movie, The Good Mother reaches a turning point that foreshadows the dramatic conclusion.
Paige (Olivia Cooke), who discovered the death of Michael’s best buddy Ducky, goes to Toby’s for assistance. She makes a call to an unidentified number that she had spoken to Ducky about the night Michael was killed while she was there.
She is shocked to hear a phone ringing in Toby’s home. She discovers the aforementioned cell phone in his basement after following her trail of suspicion. Toby stops her before she can flee and tries to explain that she doesn’t comprehend what’s going on.
Now agitated, Paige attempts harder to get past Toby, but she is pushed down the stairs by mistake (or on purpose?), slamming into the floor below. When she refuses to wake up, Toby begins to worry because he has no idea what to do with her.
In the end, he chooses to portray everything as an accident. Given her experience, it’s not implausible that she OD’d and fell after he gave her a narcotic injection. Paige regrettably dies at the hospital. Nevertheless, Marissa manages to save her baby and raises it.
It appears as though Toby would get away with everything until his associate Gina discovers some blood and jewellery that belonged to Paige in her basement. Gina reveals the finding to Marissa and acknowledges that she finds it difficult to confront Toby. Marissa will have to investigate to find out what transpired.
Marissa gives it to Toby after finding a secret bag of Mother’s Milk—the medications Michael died from—that Paige neglected to reveal.
Following her son from that point on, she finally witnesses him trading narcotics with an enigmatic subject—someone who bears a tattoo on his hand similar to the one who is thought to have killed Michael.
Following the conversation, Marissa goes to sit close to her kid, who begins to cry. He acknowledges that he and Michael were both involved in some serious matters and that he was powerless to stop his brother’s death.
