At the end of 2023, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury concluded the franchise’s 30th anniversary, sparking speculation over whether a new Power Rangers program will debut in 2024. Thirty seasons of television, the majority of which are stand-alone episodes, comprise the chronological order of the Power Rangers.

Even though the Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury ensemble starred in three consecutive seasons, the show’s charm has grown to include a new Rangers team every one to two years.

Power Rangers came full circle in 2023 with the finale of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and the reunion of Once & Always. The return of several of the original cast members to battle Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa, together with the brief appearance of Zordon at the end of Cosmic Fury, gave the story a feeling of closure.

The Power Rangers universe is ready for a new chapter after three years with the Dino Fury characters as the core of the story.

There Won’t Be A New Power Rangers Show In 2024

It is reasonable to conclude that there won’t be a new Power Rangers program in 2024 given that neither a new Super Sentai adaption nor an original TV project have been revealed as of yet.

For the first time since 2010, there won’t be a new Power Rangers season this year, which makes sense given that Cosmic Fury was the conclusion of the current story. Power Rangers experienced several “firsts” in Cosmic Fury, such as having fewer episodes and donning all-original outfits instead of Super Sentai ones.

It looks like Power Rangers is going through a transformation, and the upcoming series will probably be extremely different from the majority of the previous ones. It should come as no surprise that the next season of Power Rangers will air later than the others if it is a reboot or simply not a Super Sentai adaption.

Anything that deviates from the Power Rangers show’s rigid formula—which was followed from Mighty Morphin to Cosmic Fury—will inevitably be more challenging to execute. In October 2020, it was revealed that Jonathan Entwistle was creating a new, connected Power Rangers universe.

This was “an incredible opportunity to deliver new Power Rangers to both new and existing generations of awaiting and adoring fans,” according to Entwistle, the director of the upcoming Karate Kid film.

Although both movies and television shows were referenced in the announcement, it seems that the Power Rangers reboot series will be the main emphasis of the brand. It remains unclear if this new program will be a new Power Rangers tale or a Mighty Morphin revamp.

Given that Cosmic Fury exclusively utilized Sentai sequences for the Zord and Megazord battles, Power Rangers may soon get a unique television series. It can be risky to stray from the Super Sentai adaptations, but it can also provide Power Rangers an opportunity to try something new and different.

Power Rangers can function without Sentai if the plot and the action are strong enough, as demonstrated by the Power Rangers films, the Once & Always Special, and Cosmic Fury. A Power Rangers reboot series seems like the most intriguing choice for the future of the saga after 30 seasons of the original program.
